Join us on a day trip of beauty, peace and discovery at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir – a masterpiece of exquisite Indian design and workmanship in the heart of London. A visit to BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is an ideal way to learn about Hinduism and enjoy exquisite Indian art and architecture. Whether it’s learning about the world’s oldest living faith from the ‘Understanding Hinduism’ exhibition, or seeing a traditional Hindu temple, visitors young and old find their trips to the Mandir to be educational, inspiring and memorable.

 

The lower floor of the Mandir is dedicated to a permanent exhibition, 'Understanding Hinduism'. Spread over 3,000 square feet, it provides an educative insight into the values and wisdom of Hinduism through 3D dioramas, paintings, tableaux and traditional craftwork. Visitors can learn about the origin, beliefs and values of Hinduism, the contribution of Hindu seers, and how this ancient religion is thriving today through traditions such as the Swaminarayan Sampradaya. The exhibition also features an 11-minute documentary which narrates the Mandir’s religious significance and the story of its creation – from inception to ceremonial consecration.

VISITOR GUIDELINES TO BAPS SHRI SWAMINARAYAN MANDIR

The Mandir is a sacred house of God and a place of daily worship. In the interest of preserving its sanctity and ensuring worshippers can enjoy the spiritual ambience, all visitors are requested to abide by the following guidelines applicable in all areas of the Mandir complex. The Management reserves the right to refuse admission to those who are not following the guidelines and to those who are inappropriately dressed.

 

Dress Code - Please note that a strict dress code operates within the complex. Specifically, tops must cover the shoulders, chest, navel, and upper arms. Leg-wear must be at least below knee-length.

Shoes - It is customary to remove footwear upon entering any part of the Haveli complex. Shoe racks are provided within the complex.

Security - Please respect the security procedures in place for the safety of all visitors. Sharp, dangerous and incendiary objects and substances (e.g. knives, matches, lighters, etc.) are not allowed inside the complex.

Bags & Cameras - Small (palm-sized) purses and wallets are allowed into the building. Cameras are not. Please deposit all large bags and cameras in the Baggage Cabin in the car park prior to entering the complex. Please remember to collect your belongings when you leave.

Filming & Photography - Videos and photos using a mobile phone - for personal use only - may be taken from ground level outside the Mandir and Haveli only, but no photography or filming is allowed inside. Postcards and photographs showing the interior of the Mandir and Haveli can be purchased from the Souvenir Shop.

Mobile Phones - Please switch off or place mobile phones on silent mode prior to entering the premises. Mobile phones must not be used to take photos or video footage inside the complex.

Smoking - Smoking is not allowed on the premises, including in the car parks. Please dispose of cigarettes in the bin provided prior to entering the gates.

Food & Drink - No food or drink is allowed on the premises. Please discard chewing gum prior to entering.

Conduct - Please refrain from touching the delicate carvings. The marbled areas in the Mandir are quiet zones.

 

 

VISITOR GUIDELINES TO SHAYONA RESTAURANT

As the restaurant are part of the Hindu temple, they do not allow any meat or alcohol to be consumed in these premises.
