Epping Ongar Railway

Epping Ongar Railway & Lunch

Epping Ongar Railway is the award winning longest heritage railway in Essex and operates on the former end of the Underground Central Line, operating heritage trains between award winning old fashioned stations dating from 1865.

Start your visit with coffee/tea in the Anglia Coach café at North Weald station before taking your first rail journey of the day onboard the Steam Locomotive. Board the steam train in our reserved carriage and enjoy a complimentary drink from the on-board bar. The steam train departs for Ongar which offers countryside views as you pass through Blake Hall Station, London Underground's least used station with only 6 passengers a day.

On arrival in Ongar, you will be served Fish & Chips at your table, you can watch the Steam Locomotive being uncoupled and prepared for its return trip to North Weald

After a short time back in North Weald, take a ride on the 339 Heritage bus on a return trip to Epping Underground Station. We then take the Diesel DMU train for a picturesque trip through part of Epping Forest (there are no platforms so we do not alight) where we return back to North Weald Station.

Take a look at the railway shop for your souvenir of the day or visit the signal box (if not in use)
