Hidden Hertfordshire 2-course Lunch & River Cruise

Your afternoon starts with a hearty 2-course lunch at The Waterside Inn in Ware. You will then board the boat directly from the restaurants private garden terrace.

 

On the cruise you will pass the unique Ware gazebos that overhang the rivers edge before your journey to Hertford, the County Town of Hertfordshire, along the picturesque flood plains of the River Lee. The River Lee with it’s abundance of wildlife connects these two historic towns. You will pass Kings Meads Nature Reserve which attract ducks, gulls, and waders. Seven species of warbler also breed here in addition to good populations of reed bunting, meadow pipit and skylark. You will also pass the source of the ‘New River’ an 28 mile artificial waterway opened in 1613 to supply London with fresh drinking water.

 

The Cruise lasts approximately two hours and you will experience the crew expertly take you through Ware and Hertford Locks for a truly unique experience.

• Fish & Chips - Battered cod, served with triple cooked chunky chips, tartare sauce and peas

• Sausage & Mash - Pork & ale flavoured sausages on buttery mashed potato, with red wine gravy and beer battered onion rings
